How many times have you been told “You have purpose…”? Many I hope…How many times have you been asked “What is your purpose?” Well for me many to both.
If anyone were to ask me what my purpose is I would not hesitate one second to give an answer. I have discovered my purpose through self-assurance and faith. But truth is, there are times I get caught up with life struggles and lose sight of my purpose. There has been times where I have had dreams and visions that I have shared and not heard supportive feedback and even times where I have either made excuses or doubted myself or capabilities to reach my expectations. Then life tragedy happened and it changed me for the better!
Just a month ago, I got a call from my mom, it was a little after 10:30pm, she called to inform me that my sister had been in a bad car accident, and to just pray. From the sounds of my mom’s voice I knew it was bad. I was scared and I began to pray. I was so nervous I got up to spend the night with my friends because I just knew my anxiety would not let me sleep. I starred at my phone all night waiting for answers and trying to convince myself don’t pray and worry.
It turned out that my sister was in a three-car collision, hit by a drunk driver, ejected from the car, and fractured a few bones in both her foot and neck. BUT GOD…Again, BUT GOD kept her and I am so grateful. Check out the screen shot below to read just part of her testimony.
After reading that, I hope somebody has been reassured that they have purpose! It has been since then that I have found a new appreciation for waking up each morning and working towards my purpose.
“He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace” -2 Timothy 1:9
Outside of this testimony, my sister is going through so much more, where everything could have just ended right there with her body lying in the road. BUT GOD, allowed that pick-up truck, that praying Angel, and his grace to be present with her in the midst of it all. Why did God allow such an amazing thing? Because she still has purpose to live out! He still has greatness for her to achieve! He still has victories for her to triumph over the enemy. She now has this testimony to share to save and convict the lives of others that God is real and “He ain’t done with you yet-“!
“But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth” -Exodus 9:16
Now as I mentioned before if you asked me what my purpose is, I would not hesitate to tell you my purpose is to SERVE, to MOTIVATE, to ENCOURAGE, to BE A VOICE for the voiceless. With knowing my purpose I have set goals from personal to professional, and after nearly losing my sister, I have been motivated to wake up with drive and thanksgiving each and every day! I know that waking up with breath is proof that I still have purpose and I must work towards living it out. So if you know your purpose and have lost sight, whether it is lack of motivation, or you’ve experienced some type of setback…I encourage you today that your set back is only preparing you for a major comeback.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”-Romans 8:28
